Extra Curricular
Sport
t Port Macquarie Adventist School, we believe that sports play an important role in promoting a healthy lifestyle and developing teamwork and leadership skills. Our school is equipped with state-of-the-art sporting facilities, including two synthetic tennis courts, an indoor basketball stadium, and a large grassed area for outdoor sports. Our playground is also covered by a generous shade structure and features rubberized impact matting for the safety of our students.
We encourage all students to participate in competitive sports and provide opportunities for them to do so throughout the year. These opportunities include our school swimming, cross country and athletics carnivals, where students can showcase their individual talents. From there, students who excel may have the opportunity to participate in competitions with other Christian schools through the Christian School Sporting Association (CSSA) and Combined Independent Schools (CIS) in Sydney, potentially leading to All Schools and PSSA.
Our aim is to provide our students with the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports and to foster a love of physical activity that will stay with them throughout their lives.
Pathfinders and Adventures
The Pathfinders and Adventures program is a co-curricular activity offered at Port Macquarie Adventist School. It is designed to help children develop a range of skills and interests, including leadership, teamwork, outdoor activities, and community service. Students can participate in activities such as camping, hiking, kayaking, and first aid training.
Music Tuition
Music tuition is available to students of all ages and abilities. Students can choose from a variety of instruments, including piano, guitar, drums, and brass and woodwind instruments. Lessons are conducted on campus during school hours, and some teachers may offer after-school lessons as well.
Music lessons are tailored to each student’s needs and abilities. The teacher will work with the student to develop a personalised lesson plan, taking into account the student’s skill level, interests, and goals. Students are encouraged to progress at their own pace and are given regular feedback on their progress.
Music tuition is offered at an additional cost to families, with fees charged on a term-by-term basis. The cost of tuition may vary depending on the instrument being taught and the level of instruction required. Some families may be eligible for financial assistance, and payment plans may be available to help make tuition more affordable.
At Port Macquarie Adventist School, we believe that music plays an important role in the education of our students. We offer a comprehensive music program for all students from Pre-Kindy to Year 6. Students are given the opportunity to participate in a range of musical experiences such as singing in choirs, playing instruments, composing and performing. Music is also integrated into other areas of the curriculum, such as drama and dance, to provide a holistic approach to learning.
In addition to our music program, we offer individual and small group music tuition to interested students. Tuition is offered for a range of instruments including piano, guitar, drums, violin, and vocals. Our highly experienced music tutors are passionate about teaching and are committed to helping students develop their skills and love for music. Music tuition is held during school hours, so students do not miss out on any other learning opportunities.
We encourage students to participate in a range of musical performances throughout the year, including our annual school musical and regular performances at school assemblies and community events. These experiences provide students with opportunities to showcase their skills, build confidence, and develop important performance skills. We believe that the music program and tuition we offer at Port Macquarie Adventist School not only enriches our students’ education but also enhances their overall well-being and enjoyment of life.
Community
At Port Macquarie Adventist School, we believe that strong community involvement is vital to the success of our students. We welcome and encourage the participation of parents and extended family members in our school community and offer a variety of opportunities for them to get involved.
To ensure the safety of our students, all parents who wish to volunteer must complete a volunteer induction and child protection training, as well as a Working with Children Check before beginning to volunteer.
Throughout the year, we offer a range of opportunities for parents to get involved, including “Your Space” which is a parent-teacher group, Canteen Helpers, Literacy or Numeracy Support in classrooms, and various Sporting Events. These events are a great way for parents to connect with other families, support the school, and be a part of their child’s education. We look forward to welcoming you to our school community!
